Welcome to my website! My name is Michele Bartolomeo Azzopardi, and I am a UK-based, contemporary potter specialising in creating unique and functional pieces for everyday use. My passion for ceramics began when I attended Arts University Plymouth and immediately discovered the beauty and versatility of clay. Since then, I have been exploring different styles and techniques to create one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect my artistic vision.
My work is inspired by various elements of nature, culture, and history, and I draw inspiration from many places including Japanese aesthetics and abstract expressionism. I enjoy creating pieces that are both functional and visually appealing, and I believe that everyday objects should be a source of joy and inspiration.
One of my signature techniques is the Japanese style kurinuki, which involves carving out a solid block of clay to create unique vessels and containers. This method allows me to create pieces with intricate designs and textures that are impossible to replicate using other techniques. I also experiment with different glazes to achieve a range of effects, from earthy and natural tones to bold and vibrant colors.
In addition to cups, candles, vases, and vessels, I also create custom pieces for clients looking for something truly special. Whether it's a unique wedding gift or a set of dishes for a new home, I work closely with my clients to create pieces that reflect their personality and style.
My ultimate goal as a potter is to create pieces that not only look beautiful but also bring joy and meaning to people's lives. I believe that art should be accessible to everyone, and I strive to create pieces that are affordable and functional, yet still unique and visually striking.
Thank you for visiting my website, and I hope that you enjoy browsing through my gallery of work. If you have any questions or are interested in commissioning a piece, please don't hesitate to contact me.
